Weddings
St Wilfrid’s provides a beautiful, light, spacious venue for weddings. We can seat 225 people in the main body of the church.
Can we get married at St Wilfrid’s?
Yes, as long as at least one of you can show that you have one of the following eight connections with the parish:
That one of you:
- either lives in the parish (click here to check your address on the parish map), or you’ve been attending worship at St Wilfrid’s regularly for at least six months and joined the church’s official membership list (known as the Electoral Roll)
- was baptised in the parish
- was prepared for confirmation in the parish or
- has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or
- has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months or
That one of your parents, at any time after you were born:
- has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or
- has regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months or
That one of your parents or grandparents:
- was married in the parish
In all cases involving church services - i.e. going to normal church services, baptism, confirmation or marriage - this applies only to Church of England services. Even if you cannot demonstrate any of the above connections, we want to help you explore whether it may still be possible for you to marry at St Wilfrid’s. Contact the Vicar well in advance to discuss the options open to you.
What if I’m divorced?
If one or both of you have been divorced and a former spouse is still living, it may still be possible for you to be married at St Wilfrild’s, although the final decision will rest with the clergy, who will wish to discuss your circumstances with you in detail before making a final decision.
Please contact the Vicar for further details.
How much will it cost
The basic cost of a wedding at St Wilfrid’s is about £310, but there are extra charges for an organist, video licence, heating, flowers. etc.
Sorry but confetti is not allowed.
Photos/Video
Only one wedding photographer is permitted to take photos during the service. To video the ceremony, you will be required to purchase a licence and you may need to pay for a copyright licence as well.
Wedding reception
